Elizabeth Montalbano is a freelance journalist and photographer who divides her time between New York City and Portugal. She is currently a writer for Information Week and previously was a senior writer for IDG. Her coverage has included corporate and competitive coverage of Microsoft Corp, browsers, office productivity suites, Windows and Windows Live. She has also covered Linux and general news and events as they happened in New York City. She is particularly interested in how the competitive landscape is changing for Microsoft as it changes its business models to compete with Google, as well as the intersection of technology and society. .
She is also a travel writer and personal essayist who brings a very human and aesthetic voice to the people and places with whom we like to spend our down time.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, reading, creative writing, playing tennis and indie films and music. She also has combined her masters degree in creative writing with an interest in psychology to train with a mentor to facilitate therapeutic writing workshops. She can play several musical instruments and most sports although none authoritatively. To date she has completed one triathlon and a half-marathon; has traveled extensively in North America, Europe, Australia and Central America; and enjoys tackling new challenges.
